In true New Orleans' style -- get ready to impress because WE are going to do our show must bigger and grander than that! Here's the runway lay out: Over 500' in length!
The current World Record for the most amount of models in a runway show is 421. We are looking for 500 models to participate. These can be women, men or children but all models must have some modeling training to participate. Approximately 125 of the models will be cancer survivors who have been professionally trained to walk the runway. Cancer survivor models will be wearing this sash to designate them as a survivor:
The event is our annual fundraiser to raise money for emotional support programs for women diagnosed with cancer. When you participate and pay the sign up fee, your contribution helps make these programs possible. We are asking for a contribution in the amount of $18 to be in the show which includes the after-party featuring the band The Molly Ringwalds. We are going to have so much fun with women empowering women! Your participation fee is 100% tax deductible, paid to the WE LIFT YOU UP FUND - a 501c3 public charity.
HERE ARE THE STEPS TO PARTICIPATE:
1) This is the fun part! Picking out your amazing outfit! Decide which gown color you want to wear. We have 18 different gown colors representing 18 cancer ribbon colors. The sign up form below will let you know how many spots are left for each gown color . You will wear your own clothing and we want you to have fun with it! Embellish with head pieces, lights, feathers, capes -- anything that is a show stopper on stage, but --keep it classy of course because the world will be watching. OR simply wear a beautiful gown, high-end pants or high-end shorts outfit. The outfit has to be at least 75% of the color. In other words (as an example) if you select the ORANGE group and you find a dress that is both orange and yellow (as an example) - ORANGE should be the dominant color of the design.
2) READ THE SCHEDULE BELOW AS TO WHAT TIME WE NEED YOU ON-SITE ON SATURDAY, OCTOBER 1st.
Noon - 2:30 p.m. Check in at HAMPTON INN RIVERSIDE Ballroom (near Convention Center) between noon - 2:30 p.m. latest. Arrive in jeans, hair and make up ready. We will be providing you with a t-shirt to immediately change into for a group photo. Please indicate your t-shirt size below.
All items (your model bag/gowns, etc.) must come in a suitcase or gown bag with your name and phone number attached. Do not bring loose items -- BAG AND TAG everything. All models are responsible for keeping ALL OF THEIR ITEMS organized and put back in your suitcase, tagged and bagged. We cannot assume responsibility for any valuables that you bring, so please be sure that your suitcase can be secured if you are concerned (but we will have security watching the room). Read below for what to do with your suitcase AFTER you walk the runway.
3:00 p.m. Meet at the Sugar Mill. Coach Leslie and Rowena will do a quick overview of what to do on the runway. You will have until 4:30 p.m. to get familiar with the runway. All models must be back at the Hampton by 4:30 p.m.
Between 4:30 - 6 p.m., we have a staggered schedule consisting of the following:
1) CHECK IN WITH YOUR GOWN COLOR GROUP.
2) FIND A CHAIR IN THE BALLROOM. THIS IS WHERE YOU PUT ALL YOUR STUFF.
3) GET DRESSED IN THE CHANGING AREAS (STATIONS 3). PUT ALL OF YOUR STUFF BACK IN YOUR SUITCASE AND AGAIN, MAKE SURE YOUR BAG IS TAGGED. WE WILL NOT KEEP LOST AND FOUND ITEMS SO IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO PUT ALL OF YOUR ITEMS BACK IN YOUR SUITCASE. LEAVE YOUR SUITCASE IN THE BALLROOM ON YOUR CHAIR.
4) TAKE INDIVIDUAL AND GROUP PHOTOS IN THE FOYER OF THE BALLROOM.
5) LINE UP WiTH YOUR GROUP AND WALK OVER TO THE SUGAR MILL (be on the lookout for videographers and photographers!)
6) WALK WITH YOUR GOWN COLOR GROUP ON THE RUNWAY...POSING ON THE STAGE AS A GROUP, AND THEN FINISHING THE REST OF THE RUNWAY WALK.
7) THE RUNWAY SHOW IS FROM 6 - 8 p.m., with the post party from 8 - 11 p.m.
8) AFTER YOU WALK THE RUNWAY, HERE ARE YOUR OPTIONS:
--If you are leaving after the show and not staying for the party (you will be done anywhere between 6:00 p.m. - 8 p.m., depending on your gown color group), head back to the Hampton Inn, grab your items and know that you did amazing job empowering women with cancer! Thank you!
--OR -- If you purchased the optional upgrade to attend the party, head back to the Hampton Inn and change into your party clothes and come back to the party (you will need a ticket showing you purchased the upgrade)
--OR -- if you purchased the optional upgrade to attend the party, you can stay in your gown and just start enjoying the party.
ALL SUITCASES LEFT AT THE HAMPTON must be picked up by 11:30 p.m. ANYTHING LEFT will not be kept by us.
